77 Million Playstation Network Account burglarized

Data break-ins on the PlayStation Network reportedly reached a massive scale. This is because there are about 77 million registered accounts on the PlayStation Network. It could be important data they have taken a cracker.

Sony reported a user sensitive data such as names, addresses, passwords and credit card data may be retrieved cracker. Sony also decided to close the PlayStation Network to prevent the possibility of worse.

These events are considered very serious. Alan Paller, SANS Institute Director of Research stated, these data breaches is probably the biggest identity theft data information that never happened.

Paller assess the Sony might not pay attention to security seriously when they develop software for the PlayStation Network. In the rush to develop new innovations, security problems were excluded.

Paller suspect cracker entry by taking over a PC network system administrators, who have the right to access sensitive information about customers Sony. The administrator may send an email with malicious software, which is then installed on his computer.

Sony itself has not been explained in detail how it happened and what will be a cracker with that data. Reported by Reuters on Wednesday (26/04/2011), Sony claimed to hire security vendor to investigate this case.
